A Redfield, South Dakota man died last week in a single-vehicle crash versus train crash near Redfield.
Preliminary crash information indicates a BNSF train was traveling southbound on the train tracks. At the same time, Paul Ray Whitley, the driver of a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, was traveling westbound on 174th Street. The Jeep struck the train as it entered the intersection. Whitley sustained fatal injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
