South Dakota law enforcement officials are warning the public about a new rash of scam calls and tex messages which have had an uptick in South Dakota over the past week. The scammers are contacting people about unpaid parking or traffic tickets. South Dakota Attorney Marty Jackley’s office warns residents people seeking funds over text messages or phone calls are likely a scam, especially if they request the funds be in the form of a wire transfer, bitcoin or other forms of payment. If you receive a call or text from these scammers you are encouraged to hang up and inform your local law enforcement office.
