The South Dakota legislature approved the final appropriation of $8.2 million for the replacement of the Richmond Lake Spillway. The money will be taken out of the state’s unclaimed property fund. SB 121 was approved on the final day of the legislative session, usually reserved for reconsideration of bills vetoed by the Governor.
District 3 State Representative Al Novstrop spoke in favor of the legislation…
The money will add to the already $22.65 million appropriated for the project. Another $2.95 million will come from the Rehabilitation of High Hazard Potential Grant Program, which requires a 35 percent match. The project will be overseen by the South Dakota School and Public Lands Commission.
