The South Dakota Supreme Court has appointed Timothy Barnaud to serve as magistrate judge for the fourth judicial circuit. He will officially be taking over on July 27th. He fills the vacancy left by Judge Chad Callhan who was recently appointed as circuit judge for the fourth judicial circuit. Barnaud is a west river native, growing up on a ranch about 15 miles northeast of Belle Fourche and has degrees from Dakota Wesleyan and USD School of Law and the University of Denver College of Law. The Fourth Judicial Circuit consists of Butte, Corson, Dewey, Harding, Lawrence, Meade, Perkins and Ziebach counties.
