(KWAT – Watertown, SD) A Sisseton man was arrested for Felony DUI and a Parole Violation after driving his vehicle into Lake Poinsett (pahn’-sut) Sunday afternoon.
Officers with the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office were called to an area near Stone Bridge on the north end of the lake around 1:30.
They found a 2024 GMC Sierra with its front end submerged in the water.
A deputy made contact with the driver and detected a strong order of alcohol and signs that displayed intoxication.
A preliminary breat test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .238, which is nearly three times above the legal limit for driving.
The 44 year-old man was booked into jail in Brookings County.
