Sisseton man sentenced to federal child abuse charges

Sisseton man has been sentenced to a year and seven months in prison followed by three years supervised release on federal child abuse charges. According to the US Attorney for South Dakota 24-year-old Nathaniel Yazzie was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to child abuse charges in October of 2024. Court documents allege Yazzie struck a three year old child multiple times in the face and head while the child was in his care. A concerned party contacted law enforcement about the abuse.
