South Dakota’s delegation to Washington have reacted to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a Utah College Campus Wednesday. Senator John Thune released a statement saying he was disturbed by the threat of violence and reminding everyone, no matter how much we disagree, we are all still human beings deserving of respect and protection. Senator Rounds called it a senseless act of violence and his message to Democrats and Republicans is this is not how we treat one another. South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden has ordered flags to fly at half-staff nationwide in memory of Kirk. The South Dakota Democratic Party Released a statement condemning the violence against Kirk saying the rise in political violence we’ve seen over the last year needs to stop.
