State enters into purchase agreement for men’s state prison site in Sioux Falls

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden has announced the state has entered into a purchase agreement with land owners of the Benson Road site for the new men’s state prison. The Benson Road site is a 148 parcel of land in Sioux Falls bordering Benson road. According to governor Rhoden the purchase agreement gives the state the option to purchase the land, which will save the state over $10 million on what was estimated by the state’s Prison Reset Task Force. The state will move forward with the purchase once it has been approved by the South Dakota state legislature.
