Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adolfo-Mensa and head coach Kevin O’Connell conducted end of the year press conferences Tuesday.
This comes after the Vikings finish the season with a 9-8 record, failed to make the playoffs for the second straight season, but ended the season on a four game winning streak.
Adolfo-Mensa said the team showed flashes, but the good needs to be more than just flashes…
A lot of the talk at the press conference revolved around quaterback JJ McCarthy and his status heading into the offseason and next season. McCarthy had an up and down year, sometimes being historically bad, but improving as the year went on.
When asked about McCarthy Adolfo-Mensa said he has the makeup to be great, but doesn’t want to get locked into anything too early…
O’Connell said he wants depth when it comes to the quarterback room…
O’Connell said McCarthy’s start to his career has not been ideal, with a lot of time missed due to injury, but he improved as the season went on…
O’Connell says McCarthy wants to be great and will do what it takes this offseason to make that happen…
