The Aberdeen Mosquito Control program confirmed Tuesday the West Nile Virus has been detected in mosquito pools in Aberdeen. Mosquito Control also said it has identified an increase in the Culex Taralis species of mosquitoes, which is the most common carriers of West Nile. The city does spray for mosquitoes regularly, but also encourages residents to take basic steps to protect themselves and their family from mosquito bites. That includes removing standing water from your property, limit activity in the morning and at dusk, wear clothing that covers your body and wear insect repellent.
