A bill to help horse racing across South Dakota introduced in the state house

A bill to help support the horse racing industry across South Dakota has been submitted in Pierre.

Currently, horse racing is only done in Fort Pierre. Aberdeen once hosted horse racing at the Brown County Speedway, but stopped in 2019 when according to the Northeast Area Horse Racing Inc., the non-profit that put on the races, it could not longer meet changes to bond requirements put in place by the South Dakota Gaming Commission.

Shane Kramme with the South Dakota Horseman’s Association spoke in favor of House Bill 1058 and explained how it will help horse racing in South Dakota…

Kramme says this bill does not call for anything new, but rather brings South Dakota along with what 41 other states already allow…
