APD responds to two weapons related calls Wednesday which placed two schools on alert status

Aberdeen Police officers were on the scene Wednesday at two different locations for two weapons related incidents. The incidents were unrelated, but forced the Roncalli primary school and Lincoln Elementary school to both take safety precautions. The first instant was around noon when APD officers responded to an area of near 3rd avenue and North Kline Street. Officers say the suspect would not leave the home to speak with them and a special response team was activated. At about 2:30 p.m. The suspect did meet peacfully with police and the weapon in question turned out to be a propane power airsoft AR style rifle. The suspect was cited for shooting an air gun within city limits. Shortly after that, a second incident occurred when reports of a suspect with a weapon near the Salvation Army was reported. This situation was also investigated and resolved without incident.
