Arrest made regarding missing woman found west river

An arrest has been made regarding the remains of a missing woman being found earlier this month south of Hill City near the Pennington/Custer county lines. 24-year-old Quinterius Chappelle has been arrested regarding the death of 21-year-old Sahela Sangrait. Sangrait was reported missing back in August of 2024. Chappelle is an airman on the Ellsworth Air Force Base and is facing a federal murder charge. According to an alert from South Dakota missing persons on Facebook, Sangrait was last known to be staying in Eagle Butte. She left Eagle Butte to head to Box Elder to retrieve some belongings and was never heard from again.
