Board of Regents approves new policy to allow people to carry concealed weapons on public college campuses

The South Dakota Board of Regents approved new policies Thursday at its meeting Thursday at South Dakota State, creating new rules around carrying concealed weapons on South Dakota public university campuses. The new policy was created so the board was in line with a new South Dakota law which took effect July 1st, allowing conceal carry on public college campuses in South Dakota. It is now legal for people, including students, faculty and staff to carry concealed pistols, stun guns, and chemical agents such as mace on campuses. The board waived the standard two-reading requirement and adopted the changes immediately.
