Dakota State to join the Frontier Conference

Dakota State University along with four other former North Star Athletic Association teams have announced they will be joining the Frontier Conference for the 2025-26 academic year. The other four schools include Mayville State, Valley City State and Bellevue University. The Frontier Conference is an NAIA conference founded in 1934 and before the addition of the former North Star schools, exclusively had teams located in Montana. The North Star Athletic Association announced it would disband following the 2024-25 school year. The conference dipped below the necessary number of schools needed to be an NAIA conference with teams such as Jamestown and Viterbo leaving and Presentation College closing its doors.
