District 25 state rep Jon Hansen announces candidacy for GOP nomination for governor

District 25th state representative Jon Hansen has officially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Governor in 2026. Hansen is the first to officially announce his candidacy for governor in what is expected to be a large field seeking the GOP nomination. Hansen is a Dell Rapids resident who served as speaker of the house this past legislative session. He is running in tandem with District 16 State Representative Karla Lems who would serve as his lieutenant governor should they win the nomination and the office.
