A former state employee accused of stealing over a million dollars from a state agency has been found guilty. 68-year-old Lonna Carroll was found guilty Thursday of two felony counts of aggravated grand theft. She was accused of stealing nearly $1.8 million from state and federal funds from the department of Child Protection Services. She faces up to 40 years in prison and a $80,000 fine. Carroll’s defense called just one witness which testified to the lack of checks and balances at the Department of Child Protection Services, which Carroll used to steal the money.
