Juvenile in Mitchell Legion Baseball hazing scandal files lawsuit against American Legion

MITCHELL, SD (KELO.com) — He pleaded guilty to felony charges related to a hazing incident, but now he’s suing the American Legion and two local media companies. The Dakota Scout reports Peyton Mandel says Legion Adjutant C.P. Van Delist falsely claimed he and five other players raped younger players while on a team trip in 2023…and that the Mitchell Republic and KELO-TV published the comments without regard to their truth. Mandel was originally charged with felony rape, but pleaded guilty to accessory to a felony.
