New York Islanders win first overall pick in NHL draft lottery




The New York Islanders won the annual NHL entry draft lottery, giving them the first pick in the upcoming NHL draft. The Islanders had a 3.5 percent chance at the #1 overall pick and in getting lucky, moved up 10 spots in the first ever televised NHL draft lottery. The last time the Islanders had the top overall pick was 2009 when the selected center John Tavares. Rounding off the top five picks in order include San Jose, Chicago, Utah and Nashville.
