Sioux Falls mayoral race officially heading to a recount

Sioux Falls mayoral candidate Jamie Smith has requested a recount in the runoff election between him and Christine Erickson. In a statement to Dakota News Now, Smith says his campaign wants to ensure all eligible votes are counted. By law, a recount board must convene by July 13^th to begin the process. Once the recount process begins it should be completed in about two weeks. Erickson herself has claimed victory in the race, despite the fact that just two votes separate her and Smith.
