The South Dakota State Fair has announced the fair will open a day earlier than normal to spread out livestock judging. The announcement was made at the Legislature’s Rules Review Committe Monday. That means the extra judging would begin on the Wednesday before labor day. The fair generally runs through Labor day and normally opens the Thursday before labor day. The Legislative Rules Committee also voted to approve a request from the state fair to increase prices. Adult prices will increase from $40 to $50 for a weeklong pass while children 6 to 15 years old will go up from 20 to 25. Prepaid family value packs will increase from $130 to $160. Camper packages will also increase by $30 for each package.
