Former South Dakota Governor Harvey Wollman passed away Wednesday at the age of 87. According to reports he died of natural causes. Wollman was from Hitchcock South Dakota and represented Spink county in the state senate in 1968 to 1970. He was the last Democrat to serve as the state’s governor. Wollman had been serving as Richard F. Kneip’s lieutenant governor in 1974, and succeeded Kneip after he had accepted an appointment to be the United State’s ambassador to Singapore. Governor Kristi Noem has ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise until sundown statewide effective immediately in honor of the late former governor.
