Gov. Noem banned from Lake Traverse Indian Reservation

The Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Council voted Tuesday to ban South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem from the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation. The vote by the council was unanimous. This is the fifth South Dakota tribe to ban Governor Noem from their reservation, the others being Oglala Sioux, Cheyenne River, Rosebud Sioux and the Standing Rock Sioux. The ban comes from comments Noem made at town halls earlier this year where she accused tribal leadership of allowing Mexican drug cartels to operate on tribal land at the benefit of said tribal leaders. The tribes have demanded Governor Noem provide proof of these allegations or apologize. As of yesterday Governor Noem maintains her stance on the issue, speaking with News Nation…
