(KWAT – Watertown, SD) A terrible tragedy in western Minnesota’s Big Stone County over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office says a pickup went through the ice near Lagoona Beach on Big Stone Lake just after 9 o’clock Sunday morning.
Emergency responders were sent to the scene. They located a person inside the water.
That person was airlifted to Fargo and pronounced dead at Sanford Hospital.
No name has been released yet.
The sheriff’s office says ice conditions have deteriorated with warmer weather, and extreme caution should be used if you’re venturing out onto the ice.
