South Dakota median income drops 9 percent from 2021 to 2022

According to data released by the US Census Bureau, South Dakota saw the largest drop in median household income in the nation from 2021 to 2022. According to the numbers South Dakota saw a 9.08 percent drop in household income equating to approximately $73,890 in 2011 to $67,180 in 2022. In all, the data show nine states saw drops in median household incomes. South Dakota was the only state in the region to experience a drop. As of 2022 South Dakota is the 38th ranked state in the nation in regards to median household income.
