Zebra mussels have been confirmed in another body of water in northeast South Dakota. The Dakota Game Fish and Parks Department reports Bitter Lake in Day county is now confirmed to have the invasive species. Once zebra muscles get into a body of water they are almost impossible to remove and can affect a lake’s natural ecosystem. Game Fish and Parks encourages all anglers and boaters to do their part to try and stop the spread of zebra mussels by cleaning, draining and drying their water craft every time its move from one body to another. Bitter Lake connects to Goose Lake and Solomon Slough so all three are now considered positive for the mussels.
