Aberdeen Central placed on lockdown status due to three students in altercation

Aberdeen Central high school was placed on partial lock down status Monday afternoon due to an altercation and a School Resource Officer was injured in the incident. Aberdeen central principal Jason Uttermark sent a message to parents at approximately 1:21 p.m. Explaining there was an altercation between students. The statement says the officer injured while trying to gain control of the situation will make a full recovery and no weapons were involved. The Aberdeen Police Department released further information saying the altercation involved three students and identified the injured officer as school resource officer John Kirnan. One juvenile student was arrested and charged with three counts of simple assault, obstructing law enforcement, resisting arrest and disruption of school.
