Aberdeen Police respond to suspicious activity in southwest part of town

The Aberdeen Police Department reports a number of officers were on patrol in the southwest part of town Wednesday morning. The Department was responding to calls about a suspicious individual in the area of US Highway 281 and West Melgaard road. According to police, the man was seen running down the highway and unsuccessfully tried to enter at least two vehicles driven by passing motorists. Police claim the suspect fled as officers attempted to approach but ultimately surrendered to officers after entering a slough with waste high water. The suspect was arrested on attempted criminal entry of a motor vehicle and obstructing law enforcement charges. The name of the suspect was not released.
