Dacotah Prairie Museum director Patricia Kendall spoke in front of the Brown County Commission at its regular meeting to give the annual museum update. The County Commission oversees the museum. According to Kendall it was a record-setting year with walk-in attendance topping off at 21,974. That is an average of 83.5 people per day, which is an increase of about 56 percent from 2022. Visitors came from 45 states and nine foreign countries. Kendall says a lot of the visitors came for the Thomas the Tank Engine children’s exhibit.
