The South Dakota Attorney General’s office released its crime report for 2021. The report shows about 15,000 arrests were made in 2021 for serious crimes such as murder, assault, and drug related charges. 38,000 arrests were made for less serious offenses such as DUIs and disorderly conduct. Breaking the numbers down further, there were nine murders in South Dakota in 2021, 76 sex offenses, 5,070 assaults and 6,928 drugs or narcotics arrests. There were also 5,654 DUI arrests made.
