Bond set on Pierre man charged standoff with law enforcement

(KCCR – Pierre, SD) Bond has been set at 40-thousand dollars cash for a 52 year-old Pierre man charged in a standoff with law enforcement on Tuesday March 7th. Hughes County Magistrate Judge Tara Adamski had set bond at 50-thousand dollars before Jacobson claimed the bond was too high calling it “economic discrimination” and saying “That seems like a huge amount of money.” Jacobson also claimed to have no recollection of four prior failure to appear charges on his record. Jacobson is being held on an Aggravated Assault – Domestic Violence charge. In court, Hughes County States Attorney Jessica LaMie cited a subsection of the statute that states an attempt to induce fear of death or imminent bodily harm by impeding normal breathing or circulation of blood by applying pressure to the neck or throat or by blocking the nose and mouth. LaMie told Adamski that while the investigation into the case is on going additional charges may likely include Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer and others. Jacobson was appointed attorney David Siebrasse. He was also order to have no contact with the victim, identified in court with the initials S-K and to have no contact with the victim among other bond conditions.
