The Brown County Commission and the Spink County Commission Tuesday passed a moratorium on hazardous waste pipelines being constructed in each county. This blocks any permits or construction of the controversial Summit Carbon Solutions’ carbon dioxide pipeline. Each moratorium will last one year and aims to give the Planning and Zoning Commission time to review ordinances on the project. Summit Carbon Solution claims the project will generate $1.75 million in new property taxes every year in Brown County and $875,000 in Spink.
