The Brown County Commission at its regular meeting Tuesday accepted the lone bid from MEGA construction of Aberdeen to repair the roof of the Holum Expo Building. The bid was for $658,500 plus two more bids of $4,100 and $5,900 to repair flashings between the expo and the Odde Ice Center. The bid came in above what commissioners had planned, as they had set aside $300,000 for the job. The commission is exploring options to help cover the remainder of the cost. Brown County Fairboard manager Rachel Kippley has spoken in favor of this roof replacement because according to her it is likely the fairgrounds will need a new building in the coming years if the Expo building is not repaired.
