Canadian visitor to Custer State Park killed by buffalo

A 70-year-old Canadian woman was killed by a bison in Custer State Park while she and her husband were hiking. According to South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, the couple were on Grace Coolidge Trail and were behind a group of about five bull bison. The couple maintained distance and let them lead up the trail. The couple then came around a corner and the bison were just 50 yards away. A bull eventually broke from the group and charged, hooking the woman and tossing her into the air. She would die as a result of her injuries. This report comes after another park visitor was injured by a Bison earlier this month. Game Fish and Parks are attempting to move the bison and monitor them and blame the behavior on dry conditions causing the Bison to spread throughout the park.
