Former Sioux Falls police officer agrees to plea deal in child pornography case

A former Sioux Falls police officer accused of child pornography charges has accepted a plea deal. 28-year-old Luke Schauer has agreed to plead guilty to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet, in exchange for dropping two other charges including attempted production of child pornography and transfer of obscene material to minors. According to court documents, Schauer engaged with an undercover FBI agent posing as a 12-year-old girl on the “Kik” messenger app in January with the intent to engage in sexual activity. He faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison.
