Former Sioux Falls police officer sentenced to 10 years in prison on attempted enticement charges

A former Sioux Falls police officer has been sentenced for attempted enticement charges. According to court documents, 28-year-old Luke Schauer pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet in September of 2022. He will serve 10 years in prison, which was the minimum sentence he faced. Schauer admitted to sending illegal messages to an undercover FBI agent posing as a 12-year-old girl in February of 2021. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors two other charges including attempted production of child pornography was dropped.
