South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden is proposing a 1 percent increase for education, healthcare and state workers after calling for no increase in his state of the state address. The change comes after the Join Committee on Appropriations announced Wednesday an estimated additional $30 million in ongoing revenues coming into the state for fiscal year 2027. Governor Rhoden talked about his proposal at his weekly press conference…
an increase of 1 percent would be around $25 million combined for state aid to public schools, healthcare and state employees. Rhoden says he has no preference how the other $5 million will be spent.
