Leadership named for state legislature

Following the midterm election both parties have now voted for which lawmakers will serve in leadership come the 2023 legislative session.

The state GOP has announced Madison representative Casey Crabtree has been named majority leader with Mike Diedrich of Rapid City to serve as assistant majority leader. Helene Duhamel of Rapid, Jack Kolbeck of Sioux Falls, Ryan Maher of Isabel and David Wheeler of Huron will serve as majority whips.

For Democrats State Senator Reynold Nesiba of Sioux Falls will serve as minority leader while Shawn Bordeaux of Mission will serve as assistnat minority leader. Liz Larzon of Sioux Falls will serve as minority whip. In the House Democrats have elected Oren Lesmeister of Parade as minority leader. Erin Healy of Sioux Falls will serve as assistant minority leader while Kameron Nelson of Sioux Falls and Peri Pourier of Piune Ridge will serve as minority whips.
