Lt. Gov. Larry Rhoden talks private property in Watertown

(KWAT – Watertown, SD) During Tuesday’s South Dakota Governor’s Agriculture Summit in Watertown, there was no specific mention of carbon capture pipelines, but Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden did mention in passing that there’s a lot of talk about property rights happening in the state right now.

Rhoden, a lifelong rancher from Union Center in western South Dakota, says the Noem-Rhoden administration has been an advocate for property rights in the past, and cited one example…

A group of South Dakota lawmakers is circulating a petition calling for a special legislative session to address private property rights as they pertain to proposed carbon capture pipelines in South Dakota.

A special session can happen if two-thirds of state lawmakers sign the petitions, or if Governor Kristi Noem calls them back into session.
