A man serving a life sentence on first-degree murder charges has passed away in prison. According to the South Dakota Department of Corrections 77-year-old William Cody died in the Jameson Annex of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls on Friday March 22nd. The cause of death was not released. Cody was serving a life sentence on charges out of Tripp County in 1978. He was convicted of murdering a wealthy oil executive in Winner.
