One person died on Saturday in a one-vehicle crash north of Redfield, S.D.
Names of the persons involved have not yet been released, pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2023 Toyota Camry was traveling south on US Highway 281 near mile marker 154 when the vehicle crossed two lanes, entered the east ditch, hit a field approach, went airborne, hit a tree, and then landed.
The 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene. The 28-year-old male was transported to the hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Identification of the driver, seatbelt use, and alcohol use are all under investigation.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
