SD highway patrol promotes lieutenant Joel Peterson to assistant superintendent in charge of field operations

The South Dakota Highway Patrol has promoted lieutenant Joel Peterson to assistant superintendent in charge of field operations. Peterson is a 20 year veteran of the South Dakota Highway Patrol and was promoted to major during a pinning ceremony held Monday. Peterson has served several roles with the highway patrol including as a SWAT operator and firearms instructor.
