Senator Rounds talks entitlement reform on CNN

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds joined CNN’s Jake Tapper and talked about entitlement reform in the wake of the State of the Union Address.

In that speech, President Joe Biden accused some Republicans of wanting to cut programs like Social Security and Medicare. Senator Rounds said the president mischaracterized what Republicans want to do with entitlements, but did say changes are needed…

Senator Rounds said its irresponsible to ignore the need for entitlement reform…

Republicans have been responding to literature put out by Florida Senator Rick Scott. In that proposal, Scott calls for “sunsetting” all federal programs every five years. In other words, letting the programs expire and needing to be re-approved by congress.

Senator Rounds says that is not the approach most Republicans are taking when it comes to this issue…
