Former Bishop of the Sioux Falls Catholic Diocese Paul Swain dies

Former Bishop of the Sioux Falls Diocese of the South Dakota Catholic Church Paul Swain passed way Saturday at the age of 79. According to a release from the church Swain died while in hospice care after suffering medical complications in recent weeks. Swain retired as Bishop in 2018 but remained in Sioux Falls the rest of his life. A New York state native, Swain was not born into the Catholic church and instead converted in 1983, becoming a priest later in his life in 1988 ate the age of 45. He was named Bishop of the Sioux Falls Diocese by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006.
