Former Sioux Falls police officer pleads guilty to attempting to prey on a child

A former Sioux Falls police officer has accepted a plea agreement in a case where he is accused of attempting to prey on a child. 29-year-old Luke Schauer pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet. As part of the plea deal, two other charges including attempted production of child pornography were dropped. Schauer was accused of sending explicit messages on the Kik Messanger app to an undercover agent posing as a 12-year-old girl. He will be sentenced in December and faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.
