The trial of a South Dakota man accused of killing Moody county sheriff chief deputy Ken Prorock has had his trial moved to Pennington County. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced Wednesday about the venue change for 40-year-old Joseph Hoek. The move is being made to try and ensure Hoek receives a fair trial. He is accused of intentionally hitting Prorock with his vehicle while engaged in a high speed chase with law enforcement in February of 2024. His trial is scheduled to begin September 21st 2026. He has been charged with first degree murder and AG Jackley has said he will seek the death penalty in this case.
