Little Eagle man sentenced in Aberdeen federal court on assault charges

A Little Eagle man was sentenced to federal prison at the Federal courthouse in Aberdeen this week. 22-year-old Raul Mata pleaded guilty to assault charges stemming from an incident April 29^th. Officials say Mata fired a rifle from a vehicle at several houses. One of those bullets hit a 3-year-old girl causing serious, life threatening injuries. He has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars, followed by three years supervised release. He has also been ordered to pay $5,150.31 in restitution.
