Rep Johnson speaks to the House Indian and Insular Affairs sub-committee on Wounded Knee Massacre sacred site bill

South Dakota representative Dusty Johnson spoke before the House Indian and Insular Affairs sub-committee Wednesday, in favor of his bill the “Wounded Knee Massacre Memorial and Sacred Site Act.”

The bill would ensure the Oglala Sioux Tribe and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe would own the land on which over 350 innocent Lakota men women and children were brutally murdered by US Calvary forces in 1890. An event known to history as the “Wounded Knee Massacre”.

According to Johnson this is a chance for the federal government to help maintain this site for future generations…
