The South Dakota Democratic Party has announced a candidate to take on Dusty Johnson in 2024 for South Dakota’s lone seat in congress. Sioux Falls resident Sheryl Johnson will seek the Democratic nominee should their be a primary but she has been endorsed by the state Democratic Party.
According to a release about the candidate, Sheryl Johnson is a retired businesswoman, a former military wife and former employee of the Sioux Falls School District.

Her only electoral history was in 2022 when she ran for a District 11 state senate seat but lost to republican Jim Stalzer of Sioux Falls. She received 44 percent of the vote.
