South Dakota minimum wage increases effective January 1st 2024

Now that we have turned the corner into 2024 that means the state minimum wage in South Dakota will change. Effective January 1st 2024 the state’s minimum wage will increase from $10.80 an hour to $11.20 an hour. The minimum wage for tipped employees will be $5.60 an hour. A tipped employee’s wage and tips combined must equal the state minimum wage. The state’s minimum wage is now annually adjusted by an increase in the cost of living as measured by the Consumer Price Index published by the United States Department of Labor. This annual increase was passed by voters in 2016. For more information on the state’s minimum wage visit the state department of labor and regulation web site.
